Ken Pogrin is responsible for the strategy, product, client services and marketing functions supporting Manulife Real Estate. Ken leads M&A and platform development initiatives for the business, and also supports new business development activities. As COO, Ken provides senior business input and collaboration with the shared functional groups that support Manulife Real Estate, including legal & compliance, operations, information systems and other risk management functions. Ken's governance and oversight responsibilities include sitting on the Boards and/or committees of a number of Manulife Real Estate related entities.
Ken has extensive experience in the asset management, private funds, and real estate businesses. Most recently, he was Senior Managing Director & Chief Counsel for Manulife Asset Management in North America and Private Markets globally, leading a team of lawyers in Boston, Toronto and Montreal focusing on private and public asset management, real estate and other private funds, private equity and junior capital, and energy. Prior to joining Manulife in 2007, Ken was a Partner in the Corporate Department of Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto, and before that he practiced corporate and securities law with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York. He is a member of the bars of New York and Ontario and is a solicitor in England & Wales (non-practising). Ken holds a BA in History and Japanese from the University of Toronto and a JD from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law.
