William McPadden, CPA, is the global head of real estate and is responsible for originating and managing Manulife’s real estate equity and debt investments on behalf of external clients and the company’s general account. In his role, Bill has overall accountability for the strategic management and operations of Manulife’s extensive and diversified portfolio of commercial real estate in key metropolitan centers throughout Canada, the United States and Asia. He is also responsible for the company’s commercial real estate debt platform, which places first mortgage debt on high quality commercial real estate located in major metropolitan areas throughout North America.
Since joining the company in 1992, Bill has held various positions of ever-increasing responsibility. Prior to his current role, Bill was the senior managing director of North American real estate finance at Manulife. He also has served in a variety of commercial real estate roles including investment origination, portfolio management and workouts. Prior to joining Manulife, he was a controller with the Krupp Companies and a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co.
