2019 GRESB Participation

Within Real Estate, our goal is to have positive, lasting impacts through our products, services, operations and investments—all of which help build stronger, more resilient communities where we live and operate. As a member of the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB), we help to advance industry knowledge, spread best practices and promote leadership around the world. Our real estate team reports annually to the GRESB Assessment on our whole portfolio. Participating in GRESB evaluates our performance relative to peers, identifies strategic improvement areas and communicates our sustainability progress to investors.

Since we began reporting to GRESB in 2016, we have improved our scores every year for all of our submissions.

In 2019, we earned a “Green Star” ranking, signifying strong performance in sustainability management and performance. Moreover, our entire global portfolio submission received 5 Stars, the highest possible ranking. Our real estate sustainability program (encompassing sustainable building standards; energy, water and waste reduction targets; and green building certifications) help drive these strong GRESB results.

GRESB: This institutional investor-sponsored assessment is the global standard for assessing the sustainability performance of real estate companies and funds. In 2019, more than 1,000 property companies, real estate investment trusts (REITs), funds, and developers participated in the Real Estate Assessment, representing USD 4.1 trillion AUM. The Assessment covers more than 100,000 assets (of which more than 66,000 reported at the asset level) across 64 countries.
